There are 2 ways to plan a newborn shoot. I’ve just shown a couple of examples taken in our studio. What I like most about them is the artistic light. The pictures are on the contemporary side, but still as precious as a baby should be. All though babies are most comfortable in the familiar surroundings of their own home, we take every measure to help them relax in the studio. When walking into the studio the calming scent of lavender and vanilla fills the air. Because we unwrap the little ones, the warmth of the room is a little past the comfort of an adult, but just right for the comfort of a new baby. White noise is also played in the background to ease their senses. And, we take our time. Anyone who has had a baby knows that a baby doesn’t care who makes a schedule, they may refuse to follow it. So, if the baby wishes to eat, we wait, if they need extra love, we also wait. It is worth the wait.
We also offer baby sessions at the hospital or home. Using a documentary style, natural light, and just as much artistic freedom we capture events as they happen. We focus on the same details, but also include the surrounding environment. The babies schedule is also equally observed.
Both types of sittings are beautiful. You’ll want both plastered all over your walls. So what is my suggestion? Schedule the birth or hospital stay shoot, and then join us in the studio for more newborn shots. They change so often, so plan on needing a new session every 3 months until their first Birthday and then twice a year. As they learn to crawl and walk, you might want to change one of the semi-annual sessions for an on-location shoot.
We would love to discuss a first year plan with anyone interested. Our office number is 480-985-3959.
