Lauren’s first shoot … warning might be a long post.

This is a bit more of a personal entry … if you feel the need, skip to the next entry. :)

We train them young … in reality I didn’t do anything to push her. :D My little girl is just over two years old. Dani and I both have art backgrounds and we have discussed at length the desire to not push our children into the art field. Let them choose their likes and dislikes and support them in their choice of talents and desires etc. So when I was hanging outside the library with Lauren I was a bit surprised when she said, “Daddy, I want to take a picture!” I said sure … so I proceeded to tell her where to look through and which buttons to press. She did it and immediately began chimping (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimping). I can’t blame her though … she is only two. She then grabs the camera and proceeds to pull the strap from my neck. I know not to mess with this determined two year old. So somewhat reluctantly … remember I do this for a living … this camera and particular lens was not only very heavy … I am guessing 6 lbs … she is two remember … but it is also very expensive. Perhaps more expensive then her first car. That is if I have anything to do with the first car purchase. :) Everyone has to drive a beater car to high school. :D I did, my wife did, you probably did. Anyway I put the strap around her neck and she just started rapid firing … click click click click click … then she would chimp and laugh. “Daddy’s foot! Laurens foot!” Of course her subject matter was limited since she really couldn’t lift the camera all that high. It was the coolest thing. I was so excited!

And no joke … just about everyday since then she asks or declares … “Daddy I wanna take a picture!”. How can I resist ..can’t stifle her creative spirit. So here you go a shot from Laurens first shoot behind the camera. Don’t worry … she won’t be working your wedding or event for a while but isn’t she just awesome!!?? :D

The first shot ever by Lauren!

For her first shot!!! Wow … this little one is going places!

Her first fully handheld shot.

Judging by composition and subject matter I am pretty sure this is her first fully handheld shot. I could be a few shots off but I don’t think so. Again … this is where she laughed because she saw her foot while she was chimping after the shot! Go Lauren!

My shot of Lauren.

This was one of my favorites of Lauren on this day.

Lane with grumpy tummy time.

This last shot was me doing something other then him lying on his back in the stroller. I spent quite a bit less time on him this day just because of the quickness of Lauren. Forgive me but sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease. She was a bit more needy then he was. She basically was go go go! He didn’t enjoy this episode of tummy time. But you can tell he is eyeing the camera. “Yeah that’s right Dad. Just a little closer … and its mine!”

Lots of fun to be had. Hope this more personal post was enjoying. :)

Jeff and Elizabeth!!

Dani and Kendra were able to have a good time with Jeff and Elizabeth for this engagment shoot. I thought they did a great job of capturing the fun natured humor that they both share. I know it shows in my shot selection but my favorite shots of them are where they are playing with eachother. The non-camera aware shots really allowed there personalities to stand out. Dani and Kendra used a variety of locations, colors, and action on this shoot. I was impressed with the lighting on many of the shots and loved the interaction. Enjoy!

Drew and Lindsay!!

This was the first time I met Drew … NOT ANDREW! :D What a stud! I saw pictures from the proud bride to be but he had slightly longer hair. You are both adorable together. Thanks for a fun shoot in some awesome light.
The interesting thing is when we first arrived I was a little disappointed with the muted light. The cloud cover really stole the thunder of the gorgeous Arizona dusk lighting but not long into the shoot the clouds let way and gave us some really great beams to work with. Drew and Lindsay laughed at most of Kendra and my lame jokes and a great time was had. I was really enjoying the light hitting them on the wall and Kendra kept prodding me … “Matt … I want to get some of that sunset!” I gave way and turned them around. Thank you Kendra! All was well and all were happy with the results.

Drew and Lindsay … we’ll see you soon. :D

Yin and Yang

Are you happy Kendra??!! :)

Stiffest Couple Ever!

This couple was a little harder to work with then most. Forget the fact that they were only three inches tall and made of #7 plastic. But they wouldn’t listen for anything! OK … so really this was for a great couple that is getting married in the near future. He is stationed “overseas” and won’t be back until the day before the wedding. So the bride, and I, decided that we could have a little fun with it. I really enjoyed this shoot even though these figurines weren’t all that malleable. Getting them to position ideally was a bit of a challenge. All you photojournalist purists out there good luck with this couple. :)

Nice intimate moment between them! :)

Work it! Work it!

Be all that you can be!

Calvin and Andrea … (I know his name is Chris but see the post after this one!)

Chris and Andrea were a blast. I can’t recall a shoot with as many interesting distractions but we all prevailed with much success. The tempature out was over 100 degrees but it seriously didn’t seem that bad. Granted I wasn’t wearing a tux or wedding dress :D . Here are a few images from the shoot.
1st time seeing the dress ...

This was the 1st time they saw each other in the dress and tux. He tried to sneak up on her and their interactions were so much fun. Way cute!

She is absolutely gorgeous in this dress. I loved this shot and Dani grabbed it and put it straight in the cards for the wedding. Thank you Chris and Andrea for choosing us to shoot the wedding. You both are so much fun. There are so many other great images from this shoot … some are funny and some are just plain awesome. Enjoy enjoy!
